Hi All
Just got a good deal with Qatar Airways.Flying to Guangzhou via Doha.Price £446 all inc of taxes.This is a return flight.I have been looking for a couple of days now and seen some ridiculous prices.Ranging from £550 - over a £1000.
Waiting times are very good to.Outward bound I wait in Doha for 2 hrs and 30 mins approx and inward bound 3hrs and 30 mins.
I still have to get to Nanning but my wife always gets some good deals for me her end.She knows a couple of agents in Nanning.I believe Qatar Airways are a good airline.Never flown with them before.Just as long as they get me there.
Has anybody flown with them?

Hi Dave,
Don't take the overnight bus from Guangzhou to Nanning. Ever!!!! We did once and although you get beds rather than the reclining seats on the daytime buses it was the most uncomfortable trip I've ever done in my life (worse than sleeping on the floor of the Dunkirk to Dover ferry in 1973). The beds on the coach were 3 deep bunks. They were very narrow and very short which is probably fine for small Chinese but I'm over 6ft and 100kgs....

Thanks again for info.You have no chance of me catching a bus from Guangzhou to Nanning.For 580 yuan you can fly to Guangzhou and all it takes is an hour.
I cannot honestly see why people want to catch a bus after a 10-11 hour flight.Beyond me.All I want to do is get to Nanning the quickest and cheapest way by plane.Not be cramped up in a bus.

Hi Dave,
We had a few days in Guangzhou so the bus wasn't directly after the flight. I left Mei to do the travel arrangements and the previous trip by overnight train was reasonably comfortable so I didn't argue with her. I now realise that the Chinese tend to take the cheapest option and regard a few pounds as a fortune. She insisted on several occassions that we use local buses in Nanning and Beijing (costing 10 pence each) rather than use a taxi which might cost as much as 50p!!!! She did hire a taxi by the day in Guilin so that must have been very cheap!!!

As my wife's sister and husband own one of those buses with the narrow, short beds that ply from Nanning to Guangzhou and return, and as a family member I have to suggest everyone to use them. Instead of sitting around watching TV or going shopping, or going to the parks, it is so much nicer to view the passing scenery while being gently lulled and rocked to sleep as you are transported to another city and also provided with a few potty stops along the way....A small tip of 10rmb each is appreciated by the 2 drivers and the female attendant thank you..
HOWEVER.............while you take the bus, I will always fly from city to city.
