PostSubject: Rob's Nanning Site   Tue Apr 08, 2008 5:28 pm

Its been some years since I looked at his webpage and I was put off then because you had to pay for access to some info. Anyway I see it has closed to new members and does seem very cluttered and 'in your face'. I don't see the point in chucking everything on a homepage but then that's me!
I much prefer this board which I believe will grow.

Each to his own, as my old Gran would say. She was full of wisdom.

I hope you're right, the RobsNanning site had some control freak issues. Hope we don't have that here and there's TRUE Freedom of Speech.

Things are what they are. I hope I can learn as much here as I have the many other places I have been.

Greetings

Yes, that's true. I have been visiting The Nanning Forum and there has been a BIG change from the Old to the New. In good ways for the most part. I did find another site that is a little interesting although it is a bit quiet and does not have many members. I found several posts that I enjoyed reading. I would be interested in hearing your comments.

And here is another site in the same vein:

PLEASE - NO OUTWARD GOING URL LINKS

There is a hilarious send up of Kilnman "My wife's a doctor". See the reply by Newman at

PLEASE - NO OUTWARD GOING URL LINKS

A lot of other wind-ups also.

Absolutely hysterical. I found several characters who no doubt were taken from the Nanning forum. Who ever runs the site certainly has a sense of humor. I'll read more when time allows.

I have no idea why the censorship here as I see nothing wrong with posting URL's to other sites. Anyone care to elaborate.
BTW, Kevy's site has many add-ons that are really funny. A satirical look at the New Nanning Forum.

Allright lads
I missed the acutal URL's that were posted, so i don't know what sites your talking about...
Reading what John and Graham have written , am i right in assuming it's having a go at the New Nanning Forum ????? Why????. Don't get me wrong i'm allways up for making the odd ripple but why attack a fellow Nanning site??? although i've never met Robert and the rest over there, i'm sure that they are big enough and ugly enough to let this wash over them! i wonder what is the motive of the operators of this "Funny" site? I'm afraid that they may achieve the goal of stopping a nervous poster writing (someone who is already worried about sounding like a fool)
What is Andrew's motives in applying censorship on this subject ? I don't know. having met him i do know that he's the type of guy who seeks no praise or Medals for what he's doing here. as strange as this might sound (and also old fashioned in this present climate), He just try's to help others who are walking down the same road he's on!!!! and maybe when he looks at Ratr and the rest over there he see's, fellow (well meaning) travellers
I notice that on another post on this site that (once again) Robert (ratr) answered a inquiry from a fellow traveller, without any ref to any other site or playing the "Big Man"
I'm very glad that i missed that URL for that "Very Funny" site
John

Hi Wizard,

The postings at the fora mentioned poke fun at some of the members of ALL other Nanning sites and the silly things they do. This site and it's membership doesn't escape their treatment. It's mostly good natured and harmless fun but don't go there if you are easily offended. Some of their members have been expelled from the other sites they are abusing, so they are already misfits.

Typical topics would be 'Stuck on stupid' : On my first day in Nanning I met a girl, married her, bought a mobile phone, translator and computer for her daughter, gave her my credit card, bought a house for her family, gave everyone red packets, water buffallo and whatever else they wanted, etc etc. Now I'm penniless and 10000 miles away trying to convince the US immigration authorities that she is a traditional Chinese girl and her police record isn't important. Can anyone help me?

Personally, I find it hilarious.

Graham

If anyone visited and found it offensive, it's just a click away to another site. I agree with Graham and find it hilarious. Mcrobski aka RATR did not make any comments and some of the topics were aimed at him. Obviously whomever runs the site has his/her own agenda for whatever reason[s]. The URL will not effect the Nanning Forum in any way shape or form and that's the bottom line.

Why i did, or why i didn't make any comments will not be made known except to say, As respect for Andrew and as a guest in his home (forum) I told him I would abide by his rules when i joined and disclosed to him in a private email who I was in the very beginning. I have no influence (rightly so) in any thing that is posted here or on Andrews decisions he makes about what his view of his forum will be. Most here know who I am because I revealed that McRobski and RATR are the same person quite awhile ago in a post on this forum.

Anyone who want's to visit elsewhere can, and those that don't are also free to not visit. Andrew is only asking not to have outgoing links posted in his forum. I suppose if one really has to know why they can email and ask him

John12340.

Andrew is right to ban outgoing links to other sites. It was bad manners on my part to post the link and I apologise to Andrew.

Hello everyone. I used to like visisting the old Robsnanningsite. My Daughter is from Beihai City. I adopted her in 2007. the old site had many pics of her province, and I liked to look at them, reminded me of my stay in Nanning. i am currently going through a divorce, and have custody of my daughter.I would like to meet a Chinese woman, preferrably from my daughters province. I think it would be helpful for my daughter to have someone who could teach her some of her Chinese heritage. Any help would be appreciated.

I met my chinese girl through the internet. I went to Nanning to marry her. RobsNanning site was extremely helpful in the detailed instructions about all the paperwork. It was a very informative site. I was sad it was closed down. I am also very pleased to be in the middle of this site "My Nanning site" - I just spent 1 month in Nanning in October 09 and it exceeded all my expectations from the previous 3 visits. It was extraordinary and unforgetable. It is good to have good friends in Nanning.
