PostSubject: High cost of travel   Sat Jul 05, 2008 2:35 pm

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen,

HELP!, although I have checked out previous discussions with regards to flights to and from Nanning I am still being quoted exorbitant price's. Has anyone got any specific information to bring the cost of travel down to a reasonable level. ie links and/or airline telephone numbers. Cheers

Regards

Dale

If you have already got your flights sorted out for China then i would suggest that your g/friend make the booking for you as it will be cheaper, same for the hotel

Hi steve & dale, I was looking the other day on lastmin.com 7am saw flight for £360 to beijin thought great, but i wanted nanning, i waits for office to open 9.30 and rings for connection flight, prices quoted were to say the least expensive so declined at time, so back to pc only to find all dates that were cheaper that i was looking at had suddenly gone up to cheapest £849 so i booked anyway as all others were even more than that. I tried finnair and usual cheapo's but all dearer still. I said i only wanted to use the seat not buy the plane. ha ha den sawted

Hi
As I have repeatedly put on this forum that I have never paid more than 550 pounds from LHR to Guangzhou, and I have been to Nanning about 14 times now.You have to be patient and look at all obscure travel sites. The deals are there if you look hard enough.
I have just flown with Qatar Airlines which I booked through hoodaki.com and it cost me 436 pounds all inclusive of taxes. On Qatar website they were quoting 935 pounds for the same flight.Weird eh?The dates were June 28th until Sept 1st. I am in Nanning now.
Do not jump at the first one you see.
Dennis the Beijing flight you looked at for 360 pounds was probably NOT with taxes included.A lot of websites do this to get your attention. So your probably looking at 560 pounds approx.
If you pay more than that then you aint looking hard enough.Believe me they are there somewhere the cheap deals.
Good luck.

Most flights to most Chinese cities are now considerably more expensive owing to the high demand for the upcoming sporting games.
Airlines base the price structure on first come - most available choice, not only of seat but cost also.
So it is no surprise that all the cheaper fare options will be going FAST.
You may be lucky on any particular day to find a cheap seat but I repeat - For the next few weeks until after the games. highly unlikely.

I have just looked, it appears the greater choice of cheaper options are into HongKong.

Like you say, supply and demand, because of the olympics the prices are going to be sky high ( a pun there ) so if you can, go later, failing that keep those fingers walking and you will find something cheaper.

Hi Andrew
I booked in the middle of June and the Olympics were not far away then but as previously stated I got it for 436 pounds.
If you look around on all the small, obscure sites you will find something cheaper than 800 pounds plus. You will find one at the right price.I did

Kraziman

I hope you are right, I am sure Delboy would be only to pleased if you could give him details of any current 400 pound seats. He is asking for specific information.

Andrew/Delboy
Out of the top of my head I do not know the names of these smaller web sites.
I booked mine at hoodaki.com and on the actual web site it asks you if you want to talk to Customer Services(A bit like MSN Messenger)This I did and spoke to a lady called Carol. She was the one that got me the Qatar flight.436 pounds inclusive.
Delboy all you have to do is put into google search engine and type in China flights and literally hundreds of sites come up on the screen. This you probably know.BE PATIENT and try them all.I have the time because I am retired.Maybe you don't because you work.It normally takes me 4/5 days of looking but not all day.Just a couple of hours here and there.
A friend of mine got one for 523 pounds to Guangzhou last week with Finnair,so they are about.finnair.co.uk
I can't look for you unfortunately because I am here to see my wife and have a holiday. But as I say the cheap flights are there somewhere.
Good luck.
