V-touch on a wednesday night is usually a good one as it is either a movie or cultural night, food is buffet style and beer is included till about 10:30 (?) it's not expensive and there is usually a larger number of ex-pats there to chat too. V-touch's website is http://www.pilotex.com.tw/v_touch_english/v_touch_in_nanning.htm

I'm back home but if you post your actual dates maybe someone will touch base and organise a time with you. Someone else will need to help you out with the dentist's.

Dental work can be state of the art here and a fraction of Western prices, and usually no waiting for an appointment. They will be happy to examine you and give you a quotation for the work, no obligation to accept.

Guangxi Medical University hospital has a state of the art dental hospital. My daughter did some of her nursing training there last month so I'll get some details for you. She is in bed at the moment because she is working early tomorrow morning. You'll certainly find it cheaper than flying to Thailand. I'm afraid the dentists are not big on privacy, so you might get an audience if you have the work done here.

Don't know your route home, but if you have a return ticket from China you'll need to be aware of the visa position. You could return from Thailand and transit through an airport in China, but not stay unless you had a valid unused entry on your visa. Franco will know about this.

V-Touch Cafe on Xinmin Lu is a great place to meet Westerners. Saturday mornings, buffet breakfast, 9 am until about 12 noon, 23 rmb per person. Or Wednesday evenings 6 pm until about 10:30, buffet meal, about same price but includes free beer and wine until 9:30 pm.

Hi Dave
Just had mine done while there. top and bottom (yes without my false teeth i have a rugby smile ha ha)
As was said above , no waiting but expect a gathering
Impression taken (15 mins) one a day, they called my wifes mobile 2 days later to come in for a fitting (10 mins), told me to call back after another 2 days to collect them and smooth out any bits etc. we called back at the agreed time but the teeth had'nt arrived, they made a phone call only to find out that they were still at the manufactures, OK i said we will call back tomorrow , TOMORROW!!!, the dentist could'nt have been more sorry if his dog had died, sent a boy on a motorbike to get them and asked if we could come back in 30 mins, when we returned they gave us tea and appoligised again (service reminded me of the uk), Fitted, slight rubbing down (10 mins).
Full set of top and half set of bottom £100

You just want to try out your new car, don't you Dave?
Bring it to China and I'll look after it for you.
On Saturday I went to the Mercedes Benz roadshow. I've always wanted a Merc, but at 600,000 rmb upwards I don't think I'll be ordering one this month. We also looked at the small Nissan car. We were with a Chinese woman and she took a test drive. I'm sure she couldn't drive, it took her 10 minutes to go round one block. Kelly takes her written test on Friday!
